KITS VS. DISPOSABLES

New to e-cigarettes? You might be asking yourself, “which is better: kits or disposables?” We thought we’d shed some light on this aspect of e-cigs, and give you all the facts up front.

Choosing between disposables and re-chargeable electronic cigarettes

The main thing to think about when choosing between an e-cigarette kit and disposables is: what's more important to you – value or convenience?
Kits, or re-chargeable e-cigs, offer amazing cost savings and versatility. Disposable ecigs are a quick and easy option that means you don't have to worry about charging, and they require a much smaller initial investment. The blu™ Starter Kit aims to bring together the distinct advantages of both of these products.

Costs

On average, smokers can save anywhere between 57% and 92% by switching from cigarettes to blu
e-cigs, but the amount saved varies between blu e-cig kits and blu disposable e-cigs. Here’s how:

Advantages of e-cigarette kits

No matter which way you cut it, the cost of e-cigarette kits will always be lower than disposable e-cigs. This is because you pay for the convenience of a single-use product. While kits are a bit more of an investment up front, they provide much better value in the long term.

Here are some other advantages of electronic cigarette kits compared with disposables:

  • More environmentally friendly as the battery is rechargeable and there is less product packaging waste
  • Available in a wider variety of flavours
  • More versatile as kits allow you to choose the type of e-cigarette which best suits your need
  • If you want a small and discreet device comparable to traditional cigarettes in terms of size or feel, you’ll find our blu batteries, like the ones provided in our Premium Kit and Starter Kit, to be just what you’re looking for. The battery and cartridge together (when fully assembled) is smaller than a disposable, meaning it more closely resembles a tobacco cigarette.
Those two kits are not only available in a larger variety of nicotine strengths, they also allow for easy switching between flavours and strengths. They come with a compact case designed to carry multiple cartridges, accessories and batteries all together – so you always have back-ups ready with you as the case is small enough to fit in your pocket.

The blu Premium Kit allows you to charge on the go, so you can always have one battery charging while the other is in use – a distinct advantage as you don’t need to worry about finding a stockist to buy your next one if the battery runs out.

If you’re looking for a bigger unit with extended battery life and better vapour production for a greater comfort and experience, our blu Pro Kit would be your best fit. Rather than carrying multiple batteries or recharging every few hours, you’ll see that one large battery can easily do the job of several smaller ones.

Advantages of disposable e-cigs

Single use or disposable e-cigarettes remain incredibly popular because they're very easy to use and mimic tobacco cigs in the way you buy and consume them. You simply buy, enjoy until finished, and then throw away. Here are some of the other advantages of using disposable e-cigs over kits:

  • Lower upfront cost
  • Smaller package that's easier to carry around
  • Lasts longer than a standard battery with cartridge (Starter and Premium Kits)
  • There’s no need to purchase or use chargers
  • You can start using them straight away as they're found in many shops across the country
  • blu Disposables

Using both a kit and disposables

Having both on hand and using a mix of the two products is an excellent way to reap the benefits of both worlds. Kits and disposables have different advantages in different situations. For example, you could use a kit at home or work then use disposables on nights out, or during busy travel spells – so you don’t have to worry about charging. Disposables are a quick pick up in shops or on the high street. Just like cigarettes, you go into your local shop, grab a pack and you're ready to go. These are great for commuters and travellers who don't want the hassle of charging. Kits are ideal for long-term users who prefer the additional cost savings.

Similarities between disposable and re-chargeable e-cigarettes

Disposable and re-chargeable e-cigs function in comparable way. Here’s how re-chargeable and disposable e-cigs work:

  • Top section: cartridge/clearomiser
The cartridge or clearomiser contains the “e-liquid”. Within this liquid are USP (pharmaceutical) grade nicotine (NRG flavour is also available nicotine free) and USP grade propylene glycol (PG). Whenever a user takes a draw, the atomiser located at the bottom of the cartridge/clearomiser heats the liquid and mixes it with air to make the flavoured vapour. This then passes through a channel in the centre of the cartridge/clearomiser and out through the mouthpiece.
  • Bottom section: battery
The battery is the part that activates the atomiser to heat the e-liquid when a user takes a draw. Simultaneously, the LED at the end glows steadily as the user is drawing.

Differences between blu Disposable and re-chargeable e-cigarettes

Re-chargeables – blu kits:
  • Two piece design – battery and cartridge/clearomiser unscrew from each other
  • Battery size: the Starter and Premium Kits batteries are smaller for easy carrying; the Pro Kit batteries are much bigger to provide higher autonomy
  • Re-chargeable battery for multiple uses
  • Cartridge refills in the Starter and Premium Kits are smaller for carrying in case, while clearomisers (Pro Kits) are much bigger and designed to contain sufficient liquid to last a lot longer without any refill
  • Available in a variety of nicotine strengths
  • Available in a large variety of flavours
Single-use – blu Disposables:
  • One piece design – does not unscrew
  • The battery is larger than the ones provided in the Starter and Premium kits to last longer for a single use
  • Single use battery – does not recharge
  • The cartridge section is larger than the ones in the Starter and Premium kits to contain more liquid
  • Only available in 18mg nicotine strength, and 0mg (NRG disposable)
  • Available in limited flavours
